Case Study

Two of our clients unfortunately had their American Airlines flight cancelled due to poor weather conditions in Buffalo. They had booked to travel home on a Friday evening in Business Class, with a stop in Philadelphia, and due to the complications, the airline had auto-protected the passengers onto a flight through Chicago via Economy, but had not yet informed them of the changes.

As it’s common practice for us to monitor the travel times of our clients via TripCase (an app which can be used to manage every aspect of your trip), our team was able to inform the clients of the flight cancellation before they arrived at the airport.

Although they were unhappy to be travelling in Economy Class, they were excited to be getting home. As our clients were making their way to the airport, we continued to monitor alternative flights to see if a better option could be obtained.

Upon their arrival into Chicago, we were pleased to be able to inform our clients that we had, in fact, managed to secure Business Class seats on the same flight at no additional cost to them, even though the fares were, by this point, three times the amount they had initially paid!

Although we were aware the flight changes had already been arranged by the airline, our team, conscious that the weather would also affect other travellers within the US, were able to closely monitor the international flight and secure two seats in Business Class for our clients, enabling them to travel on a like-for-like ticket to those they had purchased despite the complications.
